The Fun Is Over! :(

Well, this fun anyways! The top 50 have been posted! And, unfortunately, I am not one of them :( However, I think this whole process has made me realize how much I love to travel (the little that I have done), and what an exciting adventure it would be to at some point in my life live outside of the US for a few months. That way I could immerse myself in the area, and learn and explore all of the little things that my new home would have to offer. I also realize that they were looking for someone who has experience in tourism and who is well-travelled. Which, at this point in my life, that is not me. I do extremely appreciate all of your support. So, thank you, you guys were awesome!!

Hey Everyone! Just to give you a quick update: I'm thinking I won't even make it into the top 50, but as long as my video is still posted I'll still have some hope left. Supposedly, Tourism Queensland more than likely sent an email out to the top 200 (with a link to an online psych test). I'm guessing so they can further cut the list down to the 50. I unfortunately did not get one of these emails. But perhaps they can clearly see I am sane and do not need a test!! :) Anyways, the final 50 are supposed to be announced tonight so as soon as I find out I'll let you know! Thank you again!

Wow! This Is Amazing!! I'd Absolutely LOVE to Camp Here!

Hey! Did anyone know that Wilson Island (one of the barrier reef islands that's never been part of the mainland) is called the castaway. It's because they only have 6 tents for guests to stay in! And guess what?! There is no electricity, mirrors, or other modern amenities. In fact, you are limited to only one bag when going to the island! That's some camping trip! Sounds like Nate and I would fit right in there, since we have been known to only take one bag between the two of us on trips that last a whole week! I commend them on their effort to have as little as possible, if no, impact on the environment. I have to say, don't try and camp there right now, you won't get in! They close the island down for seabirds that will be nesting there. And its only right, since the birds probably found the island first! Just thought that would give you a little insight into the many wonders of one of the 7 Wonders! :0)

(By the way, it only costs about $1,500 USD to fly to Australia from the US. And I believe there are only 2 airlines that offer direct flights: United Airlines and Qantas.)

Day #3 A Slight Let Down-Sorry Guys!

So, Day #3 didn't go as planned. We got nowhere near 300 views on my video, but perhaps tonight that'll completely change! I've heard talk about Tourism Queensland possibly sending 200 applicants a 'psych test' link to their emails. So I'm wondering if these are their top 200, and from what the tests reveal they will then choose the 50 best from that. I believe it is about 6:15am in Queensland right now, so I'm guessing they haven't arrived to work for their Friday morning yet in order to send those out. So how many of y'all are going to be anxious this weekend with me?! Anyone have any ideas on how to take my mind off it for a couple days? :) As always, I truly appreciate you all backing me, and hope I do not let everyone down!

Day #2 Went Pretty Well!

So, we didn't quite make it to the 200 mark for views, but we did get to 191! Today is a new day though, and if each of you blogger buddies (corny, I know :) can get 3 other people (or new computers) to view the video we'd have a real good chance of breaking 300 today! Things are going so well I'm anxious to see if we can break 500 before the judges make their ruling! (We have until Sunday, March 1st). I'll of course let you know how it goes tomorrow morning! Thank you so very much!

We've Reached 100 Views in 1 Day!

Good News! As of midnight last night, we broke the 100 views mark! So, this got me to thinking...do you think we could break 200 today? So far we're up to 128, so doing pretty good. I'll let you know how today ends!! Thanks for telling everyone you know about this!

Cross Your Fingers! Application Completed!

Wow! It was cold this morning! I was able to make all finishing touches today and successfully submit my application video! It was a little scary at first, because six hours before the due date I tried to submit and it wasn't getting sent through! But finally, to much relief, a couple hours before it was due the site finally accepted my submission. Now we wait to see if Tourism Queensland accepts it, and whether or not I'm in the top 50. Here it is if you'd like a sneak preview:

While we were taping we caught a glimpse of a beaver as well! We tried taping him doing the 'THWACK, THWACK' with his tail in the water but he was a little camera shy. Here he is swimming:

Application Tonight-Not So Much :(

Well, I thought I would have the video up tonight. I had some great ideas for it, but I found today that I need to make some minor changes. However, tomorrow is a new day and you can bet I'll be up at the break of dawn making the final touches. Ohh, the suspense!
